Marlboro’s Kashish Malik shot a tournament-best 79, the best score of the day by three strokes, to earn individual honors at the Shore Conference Tournament at Jumping Brook County Club on Monday in Neptune.
The championship-winning performance wasn’t a flash in the pan for the Marlboro freshman, as Malik carded an 85 to finish in sixth place at the Monmouth County Championship earlier this month and has not shot above 40 in any of the team’s three quad-matches this season.
Malik’s 79 was enough to lead Marlboro to a second-place finish with a 396 team score, 10 strokes behind champion Trinity Hall, which was led by Isabella Scanapicco and Anna Clements, who shot an 83 and an 86 to finish in third and fourth place, respectively.
Catharine Little, who recorded the top individual score at the Monmouth County Championship, put together a solid round, shooting a 95 to finish in 11th place, while Jordyn Talucci rounded out the team’s Shore Conference-title-winning 386 with a 122.
Holmdel finished in third place with a 417, led by Alex Schaul, who finished in second place with an 82, as well as Sirina Ganne, who shot a 90 to take sixth place among individuals.
Gwendolyn Chan finished in fifth place with an 88 for Marlboro, which also benefited from a 109 from Ava Ciglia.
